You can help reduce the risk of Hidden Hunger by managing your child’s micronutrient intake. Micronutrients are essential vitamins and minerals that are needed for good health, growth and development. Although needed in small quantities, they play an essential role in good nutrition for children. Micronutrients allow the body to produce enzymes, hormones and other important substances for healthy growth and development1.
An inadequate intake of micronutrients can impact healthy growth in children. In extreme circumstances, micronutrient deficiency can lead to stunted growth, impaired mental function, and hinder the development of strong immune systems.
